Fixing a 406 Server Error in Elementor by Disabling ModSecurity in cPanel

If you’re encountering a 406 Server Error while updating a page in the Elementor editor, it may be caused by ModSecurity rules blocking certain actions. This guide will show you how to temporarily disable ModSecurity via cPanel to resolve the issue.

🔧 Steps to Disable ModSecurity in cPanel

  1. Log in to cPanel for the domain where the error is occurring.

  2. In the Security section, click on ModSecurity.

    ModSecurity

  3. Locate the specific domain name experiencing the issue.

  4. Toggle the Status to Off for that domain.

    Modsecurity-off

  5. Return to Elementor and try updating the page again.

⚠️ Important Notice:

Disabling ModSecurity is not recommended as a long-term solution, as it may expose your website to security risks. If you’re unsure whether this is the best course of action, we highly recommend contacting your hosting provider’s technical support for guidance or requesting a custom rule adjustment.
